Ahh delays

Recently, the Camarilla has suffered from news that there will be a soft reset. This means that player will loose all of their experience points that they have gained from, potentially, years of play. They will all have to rebuild their characters from the ground up. This has caused many of the players to decide that they will not renew their membership, and in my Domain especially, almost 90% of the player base seems to be uninterested in continuing with the Camarilla. Due to these events I have decided that a delay from working further on the CamDenver site would be prudent that I need to clean up what I have now and get things out, though a delay is still being considered.
I plan to focus more on my efforts to create a custom theme for this site. Honestly I’m tired of using what other’s have provided and I really want to build something for myself. Maybe even it’ll motivate me to begin working on my artwork again. Read the rest of this entry »
New Backend, Lighter Weight

So I decided to switch from Joomla to Wordpress, and to be quite honest I’m very pleased with it. I came to the realization that for my personal site I do just need a simple content system. I am still in the process of discovering all the the hidden features and the various steps needed for additional setup, but so far I like it’s simplicity.
Don’t get me wrong now, Joomla is a great content system and works great for the Denver Camarilla site. However when I was trying to setup a personal site for just myself to blog and post my portfolio I was finding it difficult to work with. Wordpress seems to offer just what I need to simply and quickly get my own personal stuff up and running. I can also sum the backend of Wordpress up in 3 words, So Freakin’ Simple. It also seems to use straight forward PHP as opposed to Joomla’s awkward functions.
I have to admit, I am getting very excited to play around with the template system. The one that I am currently using is a generic template offered at the Wordpress site and is called SH Trocadero for those who are interested. Why am I using a theme I didn’t create, well simply put, it’s because I just set it up and haven’t had time to get things set up completely.
In other news I managed to complete to complete the work, so far, on the Camarilla of Denver site. I had to make the not so difficult decision to only really offer support for IE7 and FF3. I’m not getting paid for the site and am only doing it to be nice, so I don’t feel bad in the slightest. If I start to get complaints about the lack of support for someones browser I may take a deeper look into it.

Just a quickie

So today I decided to play around a little bit more with my site and I add a quick little blog module and created a twitter account. Just to play around a bit. We’ll see where it goes from there. So far I’m liking the way things work.
I think I’m going to have to play around with the site design soon that way I can just focus on maintaining a blog. First however I have a commitment to the Denver Camarilla and getting their site up and running properly. I think I’m close, I just need to fix the stupid dropdown menu.
I think I may as well post with updates on how I achieve certian effects when I update this site. I would like to post something of worth and that might be useful to someone out there somewhere.
